Originally published in 1976 and reprinted in 2001 as a facsimile, Double Life is a reflection on how strongly everyday routines and the (self-)perception of women, in particular, are predetermined by media stereotypes, advertisement and fashion. The pioneering croatian feminist artist Sanja Iveković pairs here snapshots of herself in her everyday life with similarly themed or composed beauty ads oriented to women, pitting the pictorial tropes engendering cultural norms of femininity against her lived experience.
